All juniors seeking to play in Spring Gully teams in the BTA summer competition should attend the gradings session, where they will be assessed by club coach Jack Baker, and have an opportunity to have a hit. Jack will arrange a short tournament in the afternoon for those who wish to participate. The club will provide a sausage sizzle for participants in the grading day.
While construction of the new clubhouse is underway, portable toilets have been provided. They will be locked out-of-hours, but we will try to ensure that they are available for use when needed
New club rooms will be due to finish November / December, and in the meantime we will be without shelter and much in the way of facilities. During the construction phase, players are advised to park in the bitumen car park on the northern edge of the courts.
Due to the new club rooms, We will have to work with a single key for the duration of the project, and will have to suspend private night-time court hire. The night competitions and night coaching can go on unimpeded under the control of club officials.
Recently the minister for Sport, Recreation and Youth Affairs, Mr.
James Merlino visited out Club and turned the first "sod" for our NEW
CLUBHOUSE!!!!!!
As many of you know we have been working on this project for over three
years and our commitment, patience and determination has been rewarded
with a new clubhouse to commence in July. We have developed a wonderful
relationship with the City Of Greater Bendigo and the State Government
to bring about this new exciting era for our Club! We will keep you
posted with developments as they happen.
Mr. Merlino spent time chatting with the Club's executive, life members,
Mr. Allan Slingo and Mr. Gary Russell and their wives, Councillor Alec
Sandner and Pat Jess and Mark Hands from the City of Greater Bendigo,
club coach Mr. Jack Baker and a few of Jack's students and several players
who just happened to be 'having a hit'.
At our last monthly meeting, the committee announced that the name for
the new club house will be the Gary Russell Pavilion, in honour of the
commitment made to the Club over many years by Gary.
