change of combination to access courts

On 1 October, the combination to access the Spring Gully courts was changed to reflect the new (2019-20) membership year. Current members were advised of the new code via email on 30 September. If you have not yet renewed your membership, please do so ASAP, and you will be advised of the new combination as part of the renewal process.

Spring Gully Tennis Club, September 2019

The new membership year at Spring Gully Tennis Club commences on 1 September, for the 2019-20 year. Members are encouraged to renew their club memberships so as to get back onto the courts at Spring Gully, in their newly landscaped surrounds. Members who renew their memberships by 30 September will be in the draw for a $100 Gift Voucher from Sportspower Bendigo.

For the seventh year in a row, the AGM decided to keep membership fees and playing charges at existing levels, wanting to keep tennis affordable for all. For the sake of the club’s finances it is imperative that members are sure to renew their memberships. We hope you continue to take advantage of the opportunities Spring Gully offers for people to enjoy their tennis in whatever form they enjoy.

The landscaping project, jointly funded by the club and the City of Greater Bendigo, will improve the amenity of our facilities. Since the plants and grass are still developing, we ask that people do not cut across the planted mulched beds or grass sections. Yet to be installed are a drinking fountain and (removable) market umbrellas. An online court booking system and resurfacing of courts 3&4 loom as major projects for 2019-20.

Membership forms for 2019-20 are available in the Gary Russell Pavilion and on the ‘Membership’ page of the club website ( . The paper form need not be returned if making online payment (Paypal, credit card and direct deposit are all available) as long as you notify the Secretary of your renewal, preferably by email, confirming your contact details.

Gary Russell retires as Manager of Night Competitions

After decades of devoted service to the club in so many capacities, in recent years devoting his attentions to running the SGTC Night Competitions, Gary has now given up this role, but will continue to serve on the committee to continue to provide the club with his sage advice and questionable jokes.

The night competitions will resume on Monday 30 September, Wednesday 2 October and Thursday 3 October. Mixed doubles team entries are sought for Monday nights, and there is still room on Wednesday night for another men’s team. The Secretary will be contacting teams soon to confirm their availability for the new season. For more information contact Ardel on mob.0432348439 or email:
